In the WB 7th Heaven, Mary Camden played her role. While this role brought her huge popularity yet she felt that the image that depicted Mary Camden as a good actress would restrict her ability to act. In the Gear issue Jessica wore a half-clothes look to challenge the stereotype. The Jessica's fans were furious at the move. The show she was on ended 7th Heaven after performing in the sixth season. The performance she gave a deservedly high-five in the role of Casey Jackson, a teenage girl, in Ulee's Gold that brought her fame. The film even awarded her the title of Best Supporting Young Actress for this film. Summer Catch, the comedy film that she is in is a testament to her outstanding acting talents. The film Rules of Attraction did not achieve much success despite her impressive performance. People were then attracted to her performance on The Texas Chainshaw Massacre. Also, she has acted in suspense movies and demonstrated her skills as a professional actress.

Madekwe came from a multicultural family. Born within South London. Her father and mother are both English. She was raised in a council estate south of London. When she was 14she enrolled in The Brit School. In London she attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art where her acting certificate was obtained.
